Who We Are

Destination Gippsland Limited (DGL) is the independent peak body for the Gippsland Tourism Sector. It is a ‘not for profit’ company limited by guarantee. It is governed by a skills based board of seven.  The Gippsland region incorporates five Regional and one Local Tourism Associations: Prom Country Regional Tourism (South Gippsland), Bass Coast Business and Tourism Partnership, Wellington Regional Tourism Association, West Gippsland Regional Tourism Association, East Gippsland Regional Business & Tourism Association and the Latrobe City Business & Tourism Association (Local Tourism Association).

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sheila O’Sullivan - Chairman
Sheila commenced her working life as a teacher and researcher, before embarking on a 30-year career in advertising, public relations, and public affairs.  She is the founder and recently retired Chair of the award-winning public relations consultancy Socom Pty Ltd. Through her work with Gippsland local councils over many years she has a strong understanding of the economic, environmental and tourism objectives of the councils and their communities. Sheila was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2003;  named on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2004;  is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia, and is an Honorary Life Fellow of Museum Victoria after serving as a director for 9 years.

Steven Hibbard
The former Chief Executive of Lonely Planet (1994-2003) Steve Hibbard has spent his most recent working life as a Non-Executive Director for Parks Victoria with a focus on Nature Based Tourism. He has also been the Director of Business Development for the Executive MBA program at Melbourne Business School (05-07).

Richard Longmore
Richard is an accountant and auditor. As Chief Commissioner of Yarra Ranges he was involved in defining the shared tourism interests of the Yarra Valley and the Dandenong Ranges. He has a special interest in heritage tourism having achieved funding for the Lilydale Museum. Richard has been a part time resident of Gippsland for 20 years.

Caillin Flint
Caillin Flint is the RACV Inverloch Resort Manager. He holds a Business Degree, and has over 18 years experience in the travel and hospitality industries, and has also spent time in advertising & media.  Caillin brings a wealth of practical industry experience, and a current, on-the-ground perspective to the board of Destination Gippsland.

Professor Therese Joiner
Professor Joiner is the Head of the School of Business and Economics, Monash University Gippsland. She has recently moved to the Monash Churchill campus after being the Head, School of Management at Latrobe University in Melbourne. 

Peter Johnstone
Peter Johnstone is the owner/operator of Sea Safari Eco Tours and Water Taxi in Lakes Entrance. Peter has been an active member on the Destination Gippsland Industry Development Committee for the past year and has recently been appointed to the Gippsland Lakes Ministerial Advisory Committee.  He is an accredited tour guide with Eco-Tourism Australia and has a strong background in natural resource management.
