Destination Gippsland Inc was formed in December 2004 following the amalgamation of the Phillip Island & Gippsland Discovery and Gippsland Lakes & Wilderness Campaign Committees.

We are an incorporated association with members drawn from the tourism industry and local government. The following Articles of Association were adopted on 21 September 2006 Articles of Association (PDF 167k).
The Gippsland region incorporates the local government areas of Bass Coast (excluding Phillip Island), Baw Baw, East Gippsland, Latrobe, South Gippsland and Wellington. The Committee is administered through a partnership approach between Tourism Victoria and Destination Gippsland via the Regional Marketing Program (RMP)
The Regional Campaign Committee's role comprises three primary functions:
- Leadership - providing strategic direction to local and regional tourism associations at a Campaign Region level and communicating with operators in regard to the benefits of co-operative marketing;
- Co-operative marketing - developing and implementing a Three-Year Strategic Marketing Plan and One-Year Marketing Action Plan, including working with industry to develop tourism or travel product such as packages and touring routes;
- Communication - internal and external communication with the local/regional tourism industry, local government, community and other stakeholders about Regional Campaign Committee activities and working co-operatively with Regional Tourism Associations.
