Visit Victoria is the state government website. It receives over 500,000 visitors monthly and is one of the most visited tourism websites in Australia. The Gippsland page (inspiredbygippsland.com.au) is the fourth most visited page on this website, receiving over 30,000 visitors each month. Destination Gippsland Events Support

Our 2012/15 Gippsland Tourism Marketing Plan includes a goal to ‘promote Gippsland’s diverse events program’. The focus of our resources to achieve this goal is to work co-operatively with icon tourism events that generate significant tourism benefits. 

The types of events we can support:
We are primarily interested in events that attract visitors from outside the Gippsland region.  Local community events cannot be supported in this process.  Ideally events will generate overnight stays in the region and have the ability to increase expenditure by visitors.  We also prefer events that complement the region’s tourism brand ‘Inspired by Gippsland’. These events may include business and corporate conferences, sporting and nature based events, food and wine, arts, music and other cultural events.

Country Victoria Events Program

Tourism Victoria recognises that many regional events do not meet the current assessment criteria for cooperative marketing assistance through Tourism Victoria's Events Program. It also recognises that some of these events have the potential to develop into significant regional events able to attract intrastate and interstate visitors.

The Country Victoria Events Program (CVEP) provides up to $10,000 per event to assist with this development. Closing dates for applications for the CVEP are April 1 and October 1 annually. Applicants are encouraged to submit their application at least 6 months prior to the event.
